Course Synopsis: The ONLINE EMT-Basic training course is open for enrollment at the beginning of each month and is self-paced. Students have up to 1-year to complete both the online and Skills Boot Camp* portions of the program. This course exceeds the National Standard Curriculum criteria.
Course Objectives: Describe the essential elements for the safe and efficient response to the scene of a medical emergency; perform a thorough patient assessment for signs and symptoms of illness/injury; provide prompt and efficient basic emergency care to the sick and injured; safely handle/prepare the patient for transportation; describe the essential elements of safe and orderly transportation of the patient to the hospital, and the transfer of the patient care to the hospital staff.
Audience: Any person worldwide that meets the minimum eligibility requirements and has an interest in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic.
Prerequisites: 18 Years old; be physically capable of performing the essential duties of and EMT-Basic; be proficient in reading/writing English; hold a current CPR course completion card.
Required Equipment: Computer with Internet capability
Certification: Upon successful completion of the program, individuals may be eligible to take the
National certification examination, which leads to EMT-Basic certification.
Course Length: Self-paced, maximum one year to complete full course including skills boot camp
